Anyway, just fyi: the beginning when I call out your name? There was a pause there for a few seconds and the reactions to that sort of don't line up with how quickly/slowly you responded and what was said after that. @.@; I was gonna post this on G+ but I wanted to spit fire on it after staring at it for awhile. :X

Re: Adventures in Podcasting Equipment

Unfortunately the need for up to 4 mics exist and the smaller mixers only provide 2 mic inputs. The end problem would be someone's going to be sharing a mic which causes audio balancing problems in the end. To deal with it, I have to sacrifice space for those additional 2 mic ports. Again I'm looking at a setup that works for doing a podcast with all the hosts sitting around a table on top of a better mic to use with the Skype podcasts.

I did find a variant which lowers the cost of entry considerably. The Behringer USB Recording Package goes for about $190 on Amazon which eliminates the need for the MXL 990 as it comes with the Samson C01 as part of the package. It also comes with all the needed cables to operate the unit. This would bring the price down to about $202 ($272 with mic boom).

The Zoom R24 does save on space since I don't have a mixer and laptop to haul around but the outcome is much higher cost of entry. I had looked at a Tascam DP-008 to eliminate the need for the mixer for local recordings however it too is only 2 mic inputs as well as the fact that the USB is only data transfer and can not be used as an audio interface for the mic to PC. Similar is the unreleased Behringer iStudio which is the iPad dock which performs a similar task. as a digital recorder however it suffers the same problem of only have 2 mic inputs on top of iOS's sometimes flaky nature.

For distance traveling like when I go out of town, I may have to depend on my Samson Go or some other means of capturing audio on my end.

Is your condenser mic USB or XLR? If it is USB, the hiss may be coming from the Levelator processing. I can probably get it out of there using Audacity which is the intermediary step before final editing in ACID. I'll run a test file and send you a copy of the last podcast we did to see if it removed it. I don't think the noise is as bad as when I was using a analog mic through the on-board sound card before. Echoing issues are probably the condenser mic picking up the sounds of our headsets. I'm not using a studio grade headset unfortunately so some does bleed a bit at times and my mic does sometimes pic it up. I recalled this happened a few times before.

Re: Adventures in Podcasting Equipment

Nice list! Out of curiosity, knowing that you travel frequently, has that made you consider the more mobile friendly alternatives to the larger mixer? Was just curious because I know I am having to look that route not because of traveling purposes, but more on practicality when it comes to space issues.

Going back to the mixer though... I noticed that when Orophen was recording on his mic and when I recorded on my condenser mic (which I rarely use because of reasons I will mention), a huge problem is with a hiss being picked up during on the file that wasn't present during recording. The ONLY thing I could think of was that it was due to the fact we were using onboard sound cards. I am not sure if this assumption is correct, but if one were to say yes, then would that mean the external soundcard on the mixer would help negate that superfulous sound during recording? It is this issue and the echoing that have very much plagued me when using my other mic set. The headset deal works, but... I would really like that warmer sound when we record. It just sounds so much nicer...

Re: Playstation TV

Yup that is the one. The demonstration unit is only showing the video still. They don't have the glasses or the 3D split screen demo up and running yet. I was considering one at one point (that or adopting Saber Nero) but something else caught my attention.

Re: Playstation TV

Is this the playstation tv? The one where you have two glasses and you can see your own screen in a co-op game? That TV is so damn crazy! I wish I had the cash to buy one ;o;

Re: New home for some of my things

Testing Comment system for Lunar Shards
